To create our Print Advert we needed to gather research and data to help us improve our knowlege of what we need to include in it. Looking spacificly at the codes and conventions of Print Advertisments, we found out that the photo we choose as our main focus should not detract away from what our documentary is all about. We decided to use a ripped learner plate for our main image because this relates to what our documentary is about, learner drivers but not only for learner driver but for a much bigger audience for example older drivers, younger drivers that have already passed and even for prospective drivers. Originally our documentary is mainly for teenagers as it is on channel 4 which is has a younger audience anyway.
When making our print advert we used photoshop, and the first thing we did was we used a white background to start of with then we put our main image onto the white background which was the ripped L plate with a hand on each side and a background. Then we cut around the image so that all that was left of the image was the ripped L plate and a hand on each side.
The next thing we did was to add a background to our image which at first was going to be blue which was the favourite colour of our target audience however we decided that a black background looked alot better and it would not detract from our main focus image. We then increased the size of our image to make it stand out alot more and we played about with titles to see which colours and fonts worked and which diddnt.
Finally we added the Channel 4 Logo onto the middle right hand side of our poster, this tells our audience what channel our documentary will be on, we also put the date and time onto our poster so that the viewers that wanted to watch our documentary would know what time and when 'Emergency Stop' would be broadcasted.
